Lou Lou’s vintage fair is the UK’s largest roaming fair and has been ‘Winner of Best Vintage Fair in the UK’. And it’s coming to Bristol!! How exciting. Make sure you get your due dose of the nostalgic past, with the most popular Fashion and Home design trends from the last six decades.

Vintage inspired looks are so hot right now. With sales in charity shops booming, and Vintage boutiques seeing more and more customers, it is so obvious that Vintage Fashion is standing firm at the forefront of the Fashion world.

With the streets playing host to the sights of Colour Blocking, Double Denim, A-line midi’s, Pencil Skirts, Flares, Disco Pants, Large Spectacles, and Winkle Pickers, Fashion throughout the decades have re-submerged taking over 2013. Its a beautiful thing to be able see a variety decades all at the same time.

There’s nothing like a vintage fair to come across some of the earlier and the latest fashion trends. There such a variety out there that any style is capable of finding something to suit it (up).

Bicycles & Backpacks

The back to school college, university necessities.

Being a student is naturally stressful, especially if you move away from home. There are contracts you must honour, bills you must pay and books you must read. Financial planning is a new untutored lesson you must endure and friendships need to be formed and rekindled.

However, it does not all have to be hard work, your new term wardrobe can be stylish, affordable and easy. Bicycles and backpacks are, and have been, the most conventional pieces in ‘the student lifestyle’ since before I can even remember. This is because they bring about ease and comfort. If you live near by your university or college you needn’t worry too much about a bicycle, but for those who are slightly farther away, a bicycle will save you money on transport and even a gym membership (exercise is a necessisity while studying). A backpack is a necessity for students, they are spacious, at least some are, and they cater for all needs. And most importantly they give equal balance between shoulders, thus supporting the back.

Now bicycles and backpacks can play a huge part in you term time wardrobe. Not only are the beneficial in that they can save you money or support you health-wise, they are being made more and more stylish to fit any fashion/style genre.

The floral Vintage-Girly and the floral Vintage-Girly

This is just the cutest pair, you would stand out from a mile away. The light colours bring an element of peacefulness with this. This Vintage style bicycle is perfect for city students. The tyres are of a hybrid nature, so ease is of the essence and this mi-pac backpack is just wonderful. mi-pac have a wide range of styles so if your’e not too into the floral prints why not check out their collection @ Mybag.com

The Foldable and the Spacious

This ensemble brings perfect ease for either gender, with a foldable bicycle you can go almost anywhere (anywhere except swimming!) and with a comfy spacious, yet strikingly stylish backpack journeys to and from your home town, to class or to work are made beautifully easy. I am sure some of you may not be too into the tangerine colour, so you would be pleased to know the foldable bikes are not limited to this colour. Check out Asos.com for this bag!

The mountain bike, and the studded backpack

The mountain bike is excellent for anyone who might have to travel through a park or places with uneven grounding. This sturdy bike (not specifically this one) can be spiked up with a studded bag. This bag is very unique, The zip through the front has a pleasing look, however, it may not be you safest option; so bare that in mind.. studs are still cool tho’.

DIY TIP: why not try a apply studs to your bicycle frame to give it a new edgy unique look. I have come across any studded bicycles as of yet. Be the first!

Or why not try to mix and match various style bags with various styles of bags.

My Vintage Chanel Sling backs

Going way back with this chic pair of vintage Chanel sling-backs.

Image
" Wait did I just hear that right?
'Vintage',
'Chanel'
& 'Sling-backs'
all in the same sentence.
My oh my, what a lucky girl.
"

These beauties are exclusive to the world of heels, you won't find them on many feet today. The pointed toe is representative of the 1950s when winkle-picker (pointed toed) heels were all the rage. The black toe cap on the cream body screams 'stylish, classy and sophisticated'.

This style of shoe is being replicated in the modern day shoe designs, the winkle-picker style (pointed toe), although now less sharp, is making a sharp re-entry and the contrasting toe cap, well, they are standing out on many toes in the high street. However, the modern copies will never meet the classic standards of this vintage pair of Chanel sling-backs.

Triumphing over the fashion world since 1913 Chanel is a name that will never die. As for the classic style, 2013 gets to share the creme de la creme that started a hundred years ago.
As they say, 'history repeats itself', the classic style of Chanel is prevalent everywhere, and Chanel is still pioneering through the decades.

Sling-backs are begin slung back onto the shelves and web pages of a variety of designers; from next to Christian Louboutins. The Winkle-picker style is being picked, plucked and preped to be renovated for their residency in 2013. And well, the contrast toe is continuing its contrasting classic legacy.CJ xx

The Beginning; of my fashion story

WP_20130418_002Fashion is all about style. “Give me any old thing and see what I do with it” are the words of a true fashionista! You can style one piece in very many ways; an individual can have many styles too. Most people tend to stick to a fashion genre, the genre in which they are most comfortable with. There is nothing wrong with this, but I believe fashion is all about breaking boundaries and feeling temporarily uncomfortable.

With this page in the month of July I want you to follow my fashion story. As I am a student, transitioning from my second year to my third year, learning to drive and paying rent, with a one day a week job, I will be focusing on fashion for less. I will be trying out a range of fashion genres and with my thrifty finds I endeavour to highlight the best buys at a low price.

Jump into my instructors car with me and enjoy the ride.

C, Jazz.
